How do I apply?
To review Internship Position Descriptions and apply:
1. Click on 'Find a Job' from the menu right, or return to main Internship page, then click on Current Internship Openings (in right column).
2. Summaries of all internship openings should be displayed. To review the detailed position description, click on the Job Title ("Job position name").
3. To Apply for a position, add it to your "Job basket" by clicking the folder icon to the left of the Job Title.
4. To apply click on the Job basket tab and then click on Apply. If you have not already registered in the system click on Register; otherwise Logon and then Apply.
Notes on Registering in the system:
When you click on Register scroll down and fill in the basic information to get started. For ID / Passport number you can enter any 10 digits, you do not have to enter your actual passport number. But this number becomes your User ID, so make a note of it.
When you first Register, the system may not take you directly to the screen to complete your profile – if not, please use the Update Resume link at right.
If at any time the interface comes up in Chinese, click on the pull-down menu upper right and select English. If this does not work, first click on Internship Position Openings and then from there click on Update Resume.
You do not need to spend a lot of time filling in every detail of your profile, just fill in the required fields (marked with "!") and attach your CV / resume. On tab 4 ("Autobiography"), click the green + next to "Works attachment" to attach your CV/resume (and any other relevant files). Anything else relevant to your application (motivation, desired dates, etc.) can be entered in the Autobiography box on tab 4.
If you have questions or are having problems with the application system, please contact talent AT itri.org.tw.
When is the application deadline?
Short answer: end of February. Long answer: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis – we encourage interested students to apply as soon as you can. Application for most positions will close around the end of February and we hope to inform all decisions by the end of March. We will remove positions as they are filled, so if a position is posted that means application is still open.
Notes
-Unless otherwise specified, the working language for these internships will be English; if knowledge of Mandarin is required it is noted under Desired Background in the Position Description.
-Interns are responsible for their travel expenses to and from ITRI's Taiwan campus.
-ITRI will obtain work permission for accepted interns, who must then obtain ROC visas from the nearest Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office before departing their home country (for locations/more info see http://www.taiwanembassy.org/dept.asp?mp=1&codemeta=locationIDE.
-ITRI also offers some internships through the Taiwan Tech Trek program, which is run by the National Science Council of the ROC and targeted at second-generation overseas Taiwanese. If you have Taiwanese ancestry, you can apply for internships at ITRI (and many other fine organizations in Taiwan) through the Taiwan Tech Trek website. (Note: TTT application deadline is February 5, 2012.)
-ITRI will be closed to celebrate Lunar New Year from 1/23 – 1/27/2012 (we return to work on 1/30) - we apologize for any delay in responding to your inquiries.
For ROC citizens: If you are an ROC citizen who does not hold any foreign passport, you are not eligible for the International Internship Program positions on this website. For those who hold only ROC citizenship, ITRI does offer internships, but this is handled by each department individually. If you are interested, please send your CV/resume to career@itri.org.tw, with a brief message indicating which department(s) are of interest to you.
Foreign males of Taiwanese descent, between ages 18 and 40 (inclusive), and carrying foreign passports are not advised to stay in Taiwan for more than four months. If you participate in this program and decide to arrive earlier or leave later than the scheduled program dates, the total length of your stay in Taiwan should not exceed four months to avoid conscription problems. For more details on military service, please check with your nearest ROC embassy, consulate or representative office, or with the Ministry of the Interior
